More Disenfranchisement

Working at a non-profit that relies on the public donating money, I watch the troubles that the economy is going through right now. I sit and wonder if letting what should happen just happen wouldn't be a better course than the feds pumping more dollars into the economy. Our dollar is getting real weak and the more money entered into the economy, the weaker the dollar will get. Just ask France.
The government wants to bail out this guy or that corporation. As a whole, the USA has been spending more that we make. This has happened on all levels, from Government to Joe Blow. We've been living on credit for way too long, and now we may have to pay up. It may be rough for a while, but the last thing we want to do is have a new New Deal! Despite what we were taught in school, the New Deal just lengthened the Great Depression. The answer, it seems, is NEVER the Federal Government. Have they ever really accomplished what they wanted to do with any program?
As Americans we took on mortgages that we could not afford and its blamed on "predatory lending." I really feel that both the borrowers and the lenders are at fault. There is going to be a pinch on both ends, but that is what is needed to correct the problem. We have taken from Peter to pay Paul for to long, and Peter wants his stuff back.
